Are you interested in making a Purple Heart donation?  Well, you are doing the right thing.  You might not be familiar with what Purple Heart actually is so read about it here in order to further understand the wonderful institution you are helping.

Historical Origins

It was the year 1782—on the seventh day of August, to be exact—when a noble man named George Washington founded the Purple Heart military decoration.  Back then it was still dubbed as the Badge of Military Merit.  The order came alongside this text: “Let it be known that he who wears the military order of the purple heart has given of his blood in the defense of his homeland and shall forever be revered by his fellow countrymen.”

Non-Profit Organization

Today, the Military Order of the Purple Heart is a Congress-chartered service organization for veterans in the United States.  It is a not for profit organization that tries to raise financial resources and material needs for the veterans and the veterans’ families who need help and aid.  Purple Heart donations are given directly to them in order to pay back the noble service and admirable loyalty they offered to their country when they were still serving in the military.

Programs and Initiatives

Purple Hearts donations also go to projects for veterans like rehabilitation programs, medical care and assistance, educational initiatives for them and their children, and long-term business start-up programs.  In addition to all these, the donations are also used to build homes and shelter for veterans who need them.

Guaranteed Donations

When you donate Purple Heart gives you all the necessary paperwork containing information on where your donated resources will go.  This is nothing but wonderful because unlike other charitable institutions, here you immediately are assured that your donations will be sent to underprivileged veterans who have been staked their lives for our nation’s sake.

Clothing Donations

But these donations do not have to always come in the form of financial resources or cash. You can also give Purple Heart clothes donations, which can be used not just by the veterans themselves, but also by their relatives and family members who need assistance in material resources.  It is very easy to give Purple Heart clothing donations because they have a lot of pick up facilities where you can simply bring your clothing items.  So you see, they have made it very convenient and easy for people to donate to their wonderful institution.

Car Donations

The Purple Heart Car donation program is very popular for affluent and rich people who are generous when it comes to giving. You simply have to go online to the Purple Heart website, fill up the proper documentation and donation forms, or even just call up their toll-free hotline.  They will then arrange a towing truck to pick up Purple Heart Car donations at a certain date and time convenient to the donors.  In fact, more than half a million individuals have generously donated their cars to the program.  This goes to show that if the cause is genuine and sincere, we humans are willing to give until it hurts.

Purple Heart Donations Websites

There are several “purple heart donation” websites that will accept your gifts and use to help veterans.  One such site is CarsForVeterans.org, and they will accept all gifts, even cars.  Of course, the USO has been supporting veterans for decades and also accept donated items.  You can get more information at the Action.USO.org website.
