It is said in the Bible, “Behold how good and how pleasant it is when brothers dwell together in unity!” The Bible clearly states that it is therefore pleasant to fellowship with one another, especially during days of worship. For some churches, they celebrate the Eucharist or church services during Sundays. Some celebrate the Sabbath during Saturdays, and that is the time they choose to have their main worship gathering. But what is the importance of going to church? What is the purpose of going to church?
Why Go to Church?
For one, it is commanded in the Bible to go and fellowship with the fellow believers (Hebrews 10:24-25). The purpose of going to church is that people need to praise God through worship with those who have the same faith with them, and to encourage and serve fellow believers. In Mount Calvary Baptist Church, they believe in systematic community evangelism where they encourage people in spontaneous evangelism and serve in the community where their local churches have been placed. Some churches unintentionally miss the importance of sharing The Good News to the community because their priority is to their own members and forget their accountability to the community.
The Calvary Baptist Church also places importance on every-member ministry and accountability. This means that they put value to each member of the church, where everyone is included, accepted and loved. People come to church services because they need to know that they belong into an organization, a group of people, or simply a place where they can see people doing the same things they do and love the same things they love.
Living with Jesus, as the Center
Christians meet to worship God, and praise the Father through God the Son, who is Jesus Christ. Mankind disobeyed God through Adam in the Garden of Eden and fell from grace. The God-man, Jesus, was able to pay the sin penalty for man on the cross since He was without sin, and man can now again be in a right relationship with God (righteousness) through faith in Jesus Christ. This gift of Jesus as a sacrifice was amazing mercy and grace, and even the faith we have is a gift from God. Man can never approach God boasting in any works to earn salvation; it is all through the gift of faith, and faith alone.
Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church believes that Jesus Christ is the head of the church and that the purpose of meeting together aside from meeting other Christians is to know the Lord God Almighty. This congregation holds three services each week. First, it is during Sunday mornings where most visitors and first-time comers attend. In this worship service, people can expect a casual atmosphere where they can fellowship with others in spontaneity. Second, it is during Sunday evenings where most people are focused and driven into the study of the word of God. Third, is on Wednesdays, where the worship service concentrates more in prayer.
Building Better People in the Community
Greater Mount Calvary Baptist Church also believes in the government authority. They show their loyalty to the government by paying the correct taxes, by honoring those who are in the authority, by submitting to the law, and by praying for the civil leaders of the country.

As with many denominations, the First Baptist Church congregations are autonomous and differ in belief systems, so it is always prudent to visit a local congregation and ask about their theological beliefs.
