My wedding is in 3 ½ weeks and I am not a nervous wreck. I thought I would be because I don’t like long drawn-out planning or attending to details for anything. I’m a “big picture” person. She has the whole crazy event under control. She tells me when and where to show up, asks what I choose from selections she presents, and then makes the vendor deliver. She’s ramrodding details for the groom too, giving orders to his Best Man and making polite suggestions to his mother. She’s a diva stage manager. The only task I have to do on my own is choose the gifts for my bridesmaids.
Forget the Dresses – Bridesmaids Need Jewelry
I chose to give bridesmaid jewelry sets for my girls. Apparently there’s a tradition that all brides say they’re choosing casual, formal, or semi formal dresses the bridesmaids can “wear to other events.” I’ve never seen one, nor have my friends. When my sister asked if I’d pick the dresses or give them a color swatch and let the bridesmaids select their own, I said to let them pick a dress they like. Bridesmaid jewelry, on the other hand can indeed be worn at other events and settings, even if personalized, and it won’t look like an out-of-place bridesmaid dress.

Already I was antsy with the details, so I chose pearls for everyone, because I agree with my dad, every girl should have some. I had the clasps fitted with tiny silver tags with each one’s initials and the date.
Now, for the Maid of Honor
I like wise quotes and sayings. I got one the other day in an email from the woman who will be my Matron of Honor less than a month from now. Of course, it was credited to that prolific author, Anonymous. It said: “Explain not! Your friends don’t need it and your enemies won’t believe it anyway!”
That’s why I love that gal! She’s my sister, my best friend, my pal and my protector. She’s also my wedding planner. The bridesmaids jewelry I give her will be South Sea pearls.
